One God And Father

(Ephesians 4:6)

I. One God “Theos” (Vines, pg. 271)

A. Many “gods” in this world Historically (Acts 17:16-31)

1. Hindu “gods”

2. Islamic “god”

3. The “god” of Atheism/Humanism (i.e. Man) [etc., etc.]

B. But only ONE True God (1 Corinthians 8:4-6)

1. Godhead of Father, Son, Holy Spirit [“Godhead” = Divine, Divinity]

a. United in purpose, power, and nature (Philippians 2:5-6) (c.f. John 1:1-3, 14; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

b. Paul dealt with them separately in Ephesians 4….. --- One Father, On Lord, One Spirit

II. One Father “Pater” (Vines, pg. 228)

A. Father of our Existence (Acts 17:28-29)

B. No Spiritual Father on earth (Matthew 23:8-9)

C. God wants to be the Father of our Spirits as well

1. Only 2 choices of a Father (John 8:31-47)

2. Jesus gives us power (authority) to become Sons of God (John 1:10-13)

3. Adoption by Jesus (Ephesians 1:3-5)

a. Sons and Fellowheirs (Galatians 4:7; Romans 8:14-17)

D. Children by Faith and Obedience

1. Do God’s will (Philippians 2:12-16; Matthew 7:21-23; Hebrews 5:8-9)

2. Submit to God by faith (Galatians 3:26-27)

III. CONCLUSION:

A. All biological brothers and sisters share at least ONE parent. Christians have ONE spiritual Father in heaven, who is the one God.

B. Out EXISTENCE, our LOVE, our DEVOTION, is OWED to him.

C. ONLY those who are HIS children are saved. ONLY children of the ONE God are spiritual brothers and sisters. Is He your Father? Are you in His family, the church? H-B-R-C-B
